Visit the renowned Monserrat Monastery after a 1-hour trek in the beautiful Montserrat Natural Park and a funicular ride up the slope of Catalonia’s most famous mountain.
Board a spacious air-conditioned coach at 8:30 am in Barcelona’s city center and take a one-hour journey to the mountainside of the tallest and most famous rocky sierra in Catalunya: Montserrat Mountain. Literally meaning serrated in Catalan and standing 1,236 meters above sea level, its peaks are covered in sharp looking stones.
Once you get to the feet of the impressive mountain, you'll head up to the Montserrat Natural Park via the famous Aeri cable car. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey hanging off the razor-sharp peaks as you make your way up. You'll then get to explore the stunning scenery of the park up close, as you hike up the slope (around an hour's trek) to reach the summit of Montserrat. Admire the bird’s eye view of Barcelona beneath your feet!
Follow your guide into the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey and discover the details of this beautiful tenth century Romanesque building. The Benedictine abbey houses the unique relic Our Lady of Montserrat, patron saint of Catalonia.
Hop back on the bus and get back to Barcelona’s historic centre at 2p m.
